Hello, I am Laura, a UI/UX designer in Des Moines, Iowa. I started my professional career as an educator. I fueled the curiosity of middle schoolers as they explored and questioned science and the world around them. While in this position, I decided to continue my own educational journey and pursued a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instructional Technology through Iowa State University. This path encouraged me to explore how people learn using technology. I transitioned to a role of a middle school technology coach, where I collaborated and supported teachers in developing amazing lessons that utilized technology. I entered the elementary teaching world and taught STEM, design thinking, and coding to children ages 5-11. Most recently, I have been writing and creating educational content for a robotics company.
I have found that my analytical science and technology background, my desire to creatively and artistically express ideas, and my ability to understand and empathize with others have naturally led me to learn about and pursue a career in UI/UX and learner experience design.
I am passionate about helping others, I recognize the importance of intentional and accessible design, and I am excited to become a part of creating solutions to improve user and learner experiences.
Laura truly lead by example which is extremely important to the culture and climate our staff had created for each other. Whatever Laura chooses to do down the road, she will be successful.

In my free time I enjoy reading, traveling, spending time with my family, exploring the outdoors, and creating wood art projects for local craft fairs. As an active consumer of digital media in my work, I feel it is important to contribute as well. I love photography so I try to upload stock photos for others to use.
